When Dental Bonding Breaks

Dental bonding is beneficial for teeth that have been chipped, fractured, discolored or decayed. With proper oral hygiene, dental bonding can keep your smile looking bright for up to ten years. In the case of dental trauma, or eating too much of acidic foods, however, dental bonding may break. If you’ve completed a dental bonding procedure in the past and begin to notice a crack, visit Dr. Michael Eisenbrock of Bensalem Family Dentistry before it falls out completely.

It’s important to remember that dental bonding is not as strong as tooth’s natural enamel. Because dental bonding doesn’t provide the same strength as tooth enamel, it’s important to avoid bad habits that might make the composite resin crack. Additionally, be conscious of eating too many acidic foods, as this can damage bonding over time. Additionally, be conscious of eating too many acidic foods, as this can damage bonding over time. Bonding shouldn’t break, as long as you are taking proper care of your oral health.

Clear Braces

Dr. Michael Eisenbrock and Bensalem Dentistry have an orthodontic solution for every patient, and clear braces may be the one you’re looking for.  Traditional braces are still the most common way adults and children correct their teeth. Clear aligners have become popular, but aren’t always effective for everyone.  If your orthodontic treatment requires traditional brackets and wires, clear braces use this straightening technique with materials designed to avoid the metallic look dreaded by so many patients.

Aesthetic improvements have been made to traditional braces that can achieve the same results without the metallic look.  Brackets are now available in clear and translucent forms that are designed to resist staining.  To connect these brackets, wires the color of natural teeth are used.  The final look is not totally invisible but is much more subtle than traditional silver braces and doesn’t look metallic.  Almost any orthodontic patient can achieve the same great results as traditional braces offer with a better disguise during treatment.

Snap-On Smile

Dr. Michael Eisenbrock and the staff of Bensalem Dentistry know that patients are always looking for new cosmetic solutions, and Snap-On Smile is one way we can help you obtain a total smile makeover. If you want to change the look of your teeth without a single dental procedure, Snap-On Smile is the solution you’ve been looking for!

Snap-On Smile is a great option for anyone with small gaps between teeth, and stains or chips on teeth. Patients who currently use a removable partial denture are also good candidates for a Snap-On Smile makeover. You are able to get a Snap-On Smile in only two painless visits.  Once you choose a shade and style for your new smile the dentist takes an impression of your teeth. Ask us about options for a temporary to smile while the final product is being fabricated.  A Snap-On Smile is made of dental resin that is thin, but very strong.  The result is a wearable smile that fits right over your own teeth and looks like natural teeth.  Snap-On Smiles can be made for both upper and lower teeth, and you can eat and drink with a Snap-on Smile on.  In about three weeks, you’ll have a second visit for a final fitting and can leave the office wearing your new Snap-On Smile!

Makeover Your Smile with Veneers

Dr. Michael Eisenbrock and the staff of Bensalem Dentistry are always answering patient’s questions about how they can improve the appearance of their smile.  There are several cosmetic procedures available to correct tooth color or alignment, but the best way to give your smile a whole new look is with veneers.  Veneers are made from a thin ceramic shell and allow you to make a dramatic change to the appearance of your smile and still look natural.

Patients with cosmetic issues like staining, cracked or chipped teeth, and even crooked teeth and small gaps can achieve a brilliant smile with veneers.  The process can even be completed in as little as two visits. First, you and your dentist will discuss the shape and look you want for your new smile.  Once your teeth are prepared for the treatment, an impression of your teeth is taken. This impression is sent to a dental laboratory where the custom product is made.  Ask us about options for a temporary smile to wear while your custom veneers are fabricated.  On your final visit, the veneers are bonded to the surface of your teeth for you to wear for a lifetime.

Natural-Looking and Strong Dental Bonding

Chipped or cracked teeth can hurt and also cost you your self-esteem. Fortunately, there is an affordable and trustworthy solution. At Bensalem Family Dentistry in Bensalem, PA, we offer dental bonding; a strong restoration option that is able to resemble your actual tooth.

Dental bonding is the process of using a composite resin to smooth over imperfections like chips, cracks, gaps, misalignments, and discoloration. It restores the strength of your tooth while repairing the look of your smile. The resin will be chosen in the shade that matches your tooth so it looks completely natural. For those who want to use bonding to whiten their smile, a resin is chosen in a lighter shade and then applied over the whole smile. For cracks, chips, misaligned teeth, gaps, and more, the resin is smoothed over the imperfection. The resin is then hardened and polished so that it shines like a natural tooth. Only light etching is needed to prepare the tooth for the resin, so there are no major changes to your tooth.

While keeping your natural teeth intact is ideal, life does not always allow that. Our strong and natural-looking dental bonding is able to bring back your smile and the function of your teeth. To schedule an appointment with Bensalem Family Dentistry in Bensalem, PA, call our office at (215) 638-9952. More information about us can be found on our website, www.bensalemfamilydentistry.com

Advantages of Teeth Whitening

How many of us get a confidence boost when a stranger gives us a compliment? Have you ever paid attention to how much of a positive effect this has on your self-esteem? The same applies to teeth whitening. Teeth-whitening is an excellent way to restore the natural color of your teeth or even make them whiter than your natural color if you would like. Here at Bensalem Family Dentistry Dr. Michael Eisenbrock, DDS can help you do just that.

With all of the lifestyle habits and environmental factors that have the ability to stain our teeth on a daily basis, even proper maintenance sometimes leave them a little dull. Fortunately, through our tray whitening system, your pearly whites can revive their shine. In addition, teeth-whitening can also take years off of your appearance. This is because as we age, over time, our teeth darken and can become yellow, brown, or even develop a green or gray tint (which may be due to heredity and/or eating habits). Your smile speaks volumes about who you are and leaves an everlasting impression, so it’s only natural that you want it to be as radiant as possible.

Tips for a Camera-Ready Smile

With selfies and instant photo sharing taking over the internet, your smile should always be ready for the camera. Though sometimes, our smile may not always be as white as we wish. Dr. Michael Eisenbrock, DDS at Bensalem Family Dentistry recommends visiting his office twice a year to make sure your mouth is healthy, but if you desire a little smile enhancement in between appointments, we offer cosmetic treatments to make those pearly whites a little whiter. Meanwhile, follow these tips to show off the smile you have!

  • Be natural – when it’s picture time, smile gently. That way, your face looks relaxed. Your mouth opens slightly, and your lower lip matches the curve of your upper teeth.

  • Check your teeth and gums – getting your smile camera-ready sometimes calls for a little behind the scenes prep work. If your pearly whites have yellowed with age, try an over-the-counter whitening product or pay us a visit! Also, don’t forget about taking care of your gums. They play a critical role in your nice smile. So keep them in good shape by brushing, flossing, and rinsing with a mouthwash every day.

  • Practice – your perfect smile may not happen overnight, but if you have a big photo event like a wedding or a graduation coming up, it doesn’t hurt to try out your grin in front of the mirror!

If you wish to enhance the appearance of your smile, please give us a call to discuss your treatment options. To learn about services we provide at the practice, visit www.bensalemfamilydentistry.com for more information. Sedation Dentistry

We do our utmost to provide you with a comfortable, relaxing dental experience, from the moment you enter Dr. Michael Eisenbrock’s Bensalem Dentistry, through to the end of your visit. Even though our patients always feel welcome, we understand that some dental procedures can cause patients to feel uneasy or phobic. For these patients, as well as those patients who would like to complete multiple procedures in a single visit, we provide complete sedation dentistry services.

We offer nitrous oxide sedation, which you are likely familiar with as laughing gas. Contrary to popular belief, N2O is not used to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any directives or requests your dentist may have. N2O works very rapidly, reaching the brain within 20 seconds. This method allows you to remain conscious and communicative, however you will experience your procedure as nothing more than a pleasant and relaxing dream. You’ll experience no pain, apprehension or unpleasant sensations for the duration of your visit.

Sedation dentistry is safe and effective for many of our patients.  If you’d like to learn how it can benefit you during your next procedure at Bensalem Dentistry please call us directly at 215-638-9952 or visitwww.bensalemdentsitry.com

Bridges

If you have had a tooth extracted due to damage, decay or disease, it is important to have the resulting gap filled since gaps in your smile can cause your remaining teeth to shift out of position. When this happens, your teeth become more susceptible to disease and decay. At Bensalem Adult Dentistry, we can help keep your smile beautiful and functional after an extraction with dental bridges.

This oral appliance literally creates a bridge to cross the area where you tooth is missing and is usually made from gold, metal, alloys or porcelain to ensure a strong and durable smile that can last more than a decade if properly cared for.

The process of creating a bridge takes two visits to our office. In the first, we will create abutments out of the existing teeth on both sides of your missing tooth. This is where the bridge will be attached. After the abutments are in place, a mold is made of your mouth for creating the bridge, which will fit and feel as close to your natural teeth as possible. The bridge will consist of two crowns, which will be fixed to the abutments, and a pontic, which is the prosthetic that will replace your missing tooth. We provide you with a temporary bridge while your permanent one is crafted in the lab. On the second visit, the permanent bridge will then be fixed to the abutments with an adhesive.

TMJ Treatment

TMJ issues affect many Americans daily. This disorder causes pain in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) that connects your lower jaw to your skull at the temporal bone. This joint controls many jaw functions and any pain in this area may cause jaw joint muscle problems, known as temporamandibular disorder (TMD). At Bensalem Adult Dentistry, Dr. Michael Eisenbrock and his team have trained extensively in the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ and offer various treatment options to new and existing patients.

Symptoms of TMJ are wide-ranging. Patients will often feel pain when opening or closing their mouth, trouble chewing food, their jaw will become stuck, headaches are quite common and they will often hear a clicking or popping noise when opening or closing their mouth. These symptoms can be associated with a lot of other health problems so if you are feeling any of these symptoms, make sure to ask during your next appointment.

Treatment for TMJ can go many different ways. Pain relievers and hot/cold compresses are short term methods and often do not solve the problems. Another possible treatment for TMJ would be wearing a night mouth guard, this will lessen the effects of teeth grinding that can cause TMJ. More permanent solutions include possible surgery in severe cases, but behavioral treatments to change the way the jaw muscles are used can be enough to solve the problem permanently.

You can visit us online at www.bensalemadultdentistry.com to learn more about TMJ treatments. You can also call 215-638-9952 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Michael Eisenbrock!

Dentures

Many of our patients visit us looking for a solution to their missing teeth. If they are missing a good number of teeth or need to get them removed due to infection or a medical condition, we can offer them different types of dentures. There are two primary types of full dentures: immediate and conventional, as well as partial dentures if our patient does not have to get all of their teeth removed.

With conventional dentures, our patient gets their remaining teeth removed and they wait a few weeks or months for their gums to heal completely. Once they are healed, Dr. Michael Eisenbrock fits their new set of dentures. Immediate dentures, on the other hand, are fit as soon as their teeth are removed. Impressions are made of our patient’s teeth before they are pulled, and Dr. Eisenbrock has the dentures fabricated. Once the teeth are pulled, these dentures are placed over the gums.

Caring for your new dentures requires regular cleaning in order to remove the plaque, stains, and food particles. It’s important to brush the surfaces of the dentures similar to brushing your natural teeth. Also consider that your oral health still needs good care as well, including gentle brushing your gums, palate, and tongue each day.

Call us at 215-638-9952 or visit www.bensalemadultdentistry.com for more information about dentures.
