How to Avoid Tooth Decay and Cavities

At Bensalem Dentistry we want you to have the healthiest mouth achievably possible. This includes avoiding cavities at all cost. When you eat or drink foods containing sugars; the bacteria in the plaque produce acids that attack tooth enamel. The stickiness of the plaque keeps these acids in contact with your teeth and over time the enamel can break down, causing cavities to form.

Tooth decay – also called cavities or dental caries – can happen to anyone but are a particularly common problem for children and young adults. Left untreated, dental cavities can become infected and eventually, tooth decay can result it tooth loss. The best way to prevent dental problems associated with tooth decay is to practice good oral hygiene. Brush and floss your teeth regularly and visit us twice a year for a dental cleaning and checkup.

If you experience tooth sensitivity, give us a call and get it checked. To learn more about services we offer, visit www.bensalemdentistry.com for more information. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Michael Eisenbrock at Bensalem Dentistry in Bensalem, PA, call 215-638-9952.
